Our guide to taking charge of your own facilities |
|
We’ve recently published a new toolkit designed to support clubs and community organisations who are planning to, or are in the process of, taking on their own facility through a Community Asset Transfer (CAT).
The tool outlines the key stages of the CAT process and is designed to help organisations: - understand what a CAT is
- identify the key requirements needed to ensure they’re ready to take on a CAT
- prepare effectively for a CAT and understand when professional support may be required
- access guidance on how to effectively run and manage their facility after completing a CAT.

How to create inclusive environments for children and young people with special educational needs |
|
Almost one in five children and young people (CYP) in England have a known special educational need or disability.
Our latest guidance looks to provide support for community organisations who want to create inclusive environments for CYP with special educational needs (SEN). It explores: - what’s meant by the term SEN
- the legal responsibility of community organisations to make reasonable adjustments to their offer
- the barriers that CYP with SEN may face, which could impact on their participation
- steps that clubs and organisations can take to meet the needs of those with SEN.

| Many clubs and community organisations depend on blue and green spaces to provide activities and opportunities for their local community.
However, climate change is affecting the condition of these natural environments.
We met with Warsash Sailing Club to find out more about how they’ve taken action to reduce their environmental impact, exploring: - the creation of their environmental action group
- the actions the group has taken
- the partnerships they’ve developed to support their work
- the challenges they face in becoming more sustainable
- their tips for other organisations.
